about

Keeping with the intended vinyl listening experience for a digital format, 'C Side Volume 7 - Pull the Plug - Side Two' acts digitally as a vinyl or tape recording would behave on your favourite old school player.

Side 1 track listing:

5. Let It Fade
‘Let It Fade’ was created in 2005 during a time when A Name Will Come were finding their sound. While A Name Will Come blasted venues and underground warehouses with metal, punk, rock, pop, and anything else they could put to a strobe light to, ‘Let It Fade’ was born along with many other tracks in a bedroom by the ocean. Composed about hope over adversity and overcoming difficult times, the track was never used due to the band heading in a vastly different sonic direction. It remained a bedroom song until its addition to the C Side collection in 2016.

6. Eighteen Love
An autobiographic piece and a love song rolled into one, this track was penned in 2005. What would you do if you met the love of your life and they were with someone else? Would you say something, or cover the windows to your soul, ignoring your feelings in favour of not interfering in their lives? To be a better person, sometimes the best you can do is hide the love in your heart. ‘Eighteen Love’ was recorded and performed by Flowers For Lily until they disbanded. This original acoustic version served as not only a draft track to work from, but also a serenade to the woman it was composed for when the lovers were eventually united.

7. Snow Song
An extremely personal and simple heartsong that bloomed like a rose from the frost-bitten soil of 2006. Despite being characteristically laced with metaphor, 'Snow Song' is at its core a tactless poem of adoration, expressing the writer's idealistic and single-minded view of perfect love. The object and time of the writer's eye is a part of heaven, and against all odds, even death, the lover will remain by her side. Poorly received by every band it was offered to, 'Snow Song' is a portrait of eternal love. This original acoustic version was written with only one verse, a second verse added later to complete the song. ‘Snow Song’ was also written as a companion piece for ‘Eighteen Love’.

8. Xavier
The song ‘Xavier’ was inspired by a long-standing emotional reaction to the character and backstory of Setzer Gabbiani. Renamed to better suit a more personal, internal vision of the self as a lonesome traveller, it is reflective of loss and a bleak but slowly improving worldview. Written in the winter of 2007 as a tribute to the character and a hymn for the human spirit, ‘Xavier’ was offered unsuccessfully to A Name Will Come, remaining a bedroom track until its online release as a C-Side in 2016.
