'Shatterheart' marks the transition from punk metal to alternative pop rock while telling a story of failing romance. A simple pop rock tune underpinned with funk beats, the song paints a metaphor-saturated picture of domestic bliss in tatters, illustrating the games people play to cover their unhappiness. First penned in 2008 and offered to Flowers For Lily and Love Hate Rebellion respectively, this cut-from-live-performance composition lived on a hard drive for several years before finding its way online. Despite telling a sad tale, the overarching theme is one of hope encapsulated in an environment of hopelessness.
