Keeping with the intended vinyl listening experience for a digital format, 'C Side Volume 7 - Pull the Plug - Side One' acts digitally as a vinyl or tape recording would behave on your favourite old school player.
Side 1 track listing:
1. Reasons
In 2008 life was a roller coaster of simple contentments and complex emotions, every day a different experience. Consequently the birth of 'Reasons' culminated from rumination, introspection and staring for too long at the ocean. It's easy to get lost in the small things and forget the big picture, and equally easy to pretend understanding of universal precepts while wallowing in the details. The song deals in discovering one's meaning, and the constant of change; the relevance of ourselves to each other, and acceptance our part in the grand scheme. Offered to A Name Will Come and Flowers For Lily unsuccessfully, 'Reasons' was a bedroom song until its online release in 2011 and features antique acoustic guitar and an Indian Harmonium among the instrumentation.
2. Left
A soft acoustic track about grieving, ‘Left’ was written as a farewell piece in 2009 just after the New Year. Featuring instrumentation from an antique baby Hofner guitar and various trinket bells to create a unique atmospheric sound, ‘Left’ is a leaving song for anyone experiencing disillusion and sadness. Created to honour an old friend and band member.
3. Gold Mountains
The story of ‘Gold Mountains’ is simple. It’s just a love song with no hidden meaning or double truth. A serenade from a smitten youth to an adored lover, an age old tribute of one’s heart in lieu of expensive gifts. Originally penned in 2001 on a scrap of paper, the song was lost for a number of years but luckily remembered and quickly recorded as a live piece during a lonely wine-filled evening in 2010.
4. When I'm Old
The most beautiful part of romance might be roses, flowers, and young, beating hearts for some. For others it is the notion that innumerable years from now, when beauty has faded and youthful excitement worn away, that love will remain regardless, powerful and adoring as ever. ‘When I’m Old’ was written as an ode to this enduring love in the spring of 2009. Recorded live in studio at Blackbox with producer Jeff Lovejoy as an addendum to a Flowers For Lily release, the song was cut from the record and remained an archival track until its online release on the C-Side collection.
